The Vancouver Aquarium is a top choice for visitors from all over the world, including Hollywood.  Take a look at some of the familiar faces spotted lately at the Aquarium.  While here, these people learned more about the non-profit Vancouver Aquarium and our efforts to effect the conservation of aquatic life through our research and education programs.

Team Australia Olympic athletes visited the Vancouver Aquarium at the end of the Games and met Qila while our Beluga trainers filled them in on our research study with UBC to learn more about how belugas mothers communicate with their calves.

Canadian actress Jennifer Finnigan, best known for her role as Bridget Forrester in the popular soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, visited the Vancouver Aquarium with Tanya Kim, host of eTalk on CTV.  Their one-on-one encounter with Qila was a time to have some fun while learning how Beluga’s raise their calves.

Canadian figure skating world champion Elvis Stoyko and guest Gladys Orozco visited the Vancouver Aquarium near the end of the city’s 2010 Olympic Winter Games.  They enjoyed a fun, educational encounter with Spinnaker, one of the Aquarium’s Pacific-white-sided dolphins.  The dolphins participate in a research study to determine how dolphins may be able to avoid becoming entangled in fishing nets in the wild.

Team Canada and Team USA Ladies Halfpipe Olympic athletes – from the left, Team USA bronze medalist Kelly Clark, Team Canada’s Mercedes Nicoll and Team USA’s Elena Hight.  All three Olympians were thrilled by their unforgettable encounter with the Aquarium’s beluga Imaq.

American snowboarder Michelle Gorgone (right) visited the Vancouver Aquarium and experienced an amazing encounter with one of the Aquarium’s Pacific white-sided dolphins, Spinnaker.  Michelle represented Team USA in Ladies Parallel Giant Slalom during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Model and mom Cindy Crawford visited the Vancouver Aquarium on opening day of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and had a splashy time meeting the beluga whales and discovering how Beluga mothers birth and rear their calves.

Chow Mei-ching, First Lady of Taiwan – and honourary head of the famous contemporary dance group Cloud Gate Dance Theatre – learned more about diet research and metabolic studies with Northern fur seals during her visit to the Aquarium.  The First Lady attended the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad.

During the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, members of the Swiss men’s Olympic ski team enjoyed an encounter with the Vancouver Aquarium’s beluga whales, Northern fur seals and Steller sea lions.  During their visit, the Swiss Olympians learned about the Aquarium’s ongoing research projects on beluga vocalization and population decline in the wild of the Northern fur seals and Steller sea lions.

The Vancouver Aquarium hosted the official wrap party for the crew and cast of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The cast and crew of Twilight enjoyed a special look at the Aquarium after dark.

Actress Jeri Ryan, best known for her role as the ex-Borg Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager, visited the Vancouver Aquarium with her baby daughter Gisele in October 2009. They went up close and personal with our male beluga Imaq and our oldest female beluga Kavna.

Vanessa Hudgens from Disney’s High School Musical movie series stopped by the Vancouver Aquarium while she was in town shooting her newest movie Sucker Punch.  Vanessa and her younger sister Stella were thrilled to meet our beluga whales and discover how these amazing animals communicate with each other.

Singer-songwriter and Grammy Award winner Sheryl Crow visited the Vancouver Aquarium with her son Wyatt. They met the Aquarium’s male beluga Imaq and our oldest female beluga Kavna while learning how belugas whales survive in Canada’s Arctic and the challenges they face due to climate change.

Vancouver Canucks’ left winger Darcy Hordichuk stopped by the Vancouver Aquarium with family and friends during the off season to meet and learn more about our conservation, education and research programs with our many amazing animals.

Rock drummer Travis Barker of Blink 182 visited the Vancouver Aquarium with his family while the band was in town for a concert.  The Barkers met and learned our rescued Pacific white-sided dolphins and the Steller sea lions and beluga whales.

Pro soccer player Jonny Magallon, defender for team Club Deportivo Guadalajara and the national soccer team of Mexico, and his wife experienced an encounter with our Pacific white-sided dolphins.
